After buying my Bonneville in June this year a short period after that I went in for surgery so have been unable to ride it due to recovery etc. With that in mind I had plenty of time to sit on eBay etc to look for bits and bobs. As I was recovering I was lucky to have the help of my cousin (Rudeboy) who is a wiz kid with a spanner. Over all I'm done with the spending, anything else will have to be made, the seat bolts were made from a couple of spent.303 cases with some M6 threaded bar Epoxied in. The keener eye will notice one of the bar end mirrors is missing, this is with my brother-in-law who is an engineer, he is customising the mirror to give me a better view as I can see too much of my forearm and not enough of the road behind, I guess a diet might help
With a good roughing up with production paper pad and tank surfaces swabbed with some alcohol wipes and strips of well strong double sided tape neatly butted up joints put on pad then trimmed around joint effort that tape is damn good from screwfix sticks like shyte to a blanket
You might want to wash the number plate before going for a ride - looks like it's got some mould or similar furry gunge all over it...
Fair shout I typed that without even reading Andys previous stuff I aint even a mind reader it works though dont think they coming off in a hurry best to remind all readers and members that Screwfix is not a dating agency
I fear hes only just started theres the front screen, panniers, intercom and satnav thats just for starters
I have mate, she'd kill me if I spent another penny however forgiveness is easier to obtain than permission so there could be another few things that could be on the cards Good job she don't read this Nick
I like the cartridge case idea, looks pretty smart I'm in a similar position at the mo, stuck at home with an knackered wrist so I can't work and I can't ride so I'm messing about with my bike too - only trouble is I have very limited funds so it's mainly being done with whatever I can find in my shed lol!
That’s how the cartridge case idea came about, seat bolts are £19.00 and to be fair that a lump of cash I thought was a waste of money. I had the M6 threaded bar, cartridge cases were easy come by so I Epoxied the bar into the case. I deliberately chose .303 because as far as I’m concerned it’s a British round so belongs on the Triumph lol
I'm quite lucky there as I served a toolmaking apprenticeship so I'm fairly experienced in metalwork-the wife's not so lucky though as I'm hopeless at decorating and woodwork so I can't do much around the house lol!
