im looking at getting a tank bag and would welcome any advice please, I have previously only used a magnetic bag but am interested in people's experience of the tanklock type of bag or any other type but it needs to have a clear top so that I can see a map (old school) thanks.

I've been a fan of SW Motech Bags Connection tank bags for a good few years now. When my new Tiger arrives next month I'll be fitting the necessary 'tank ring' to it so I can use the different sized bags I've bought over the years. I have the clear map pocket too which clips to the bag quite neatly. So easy to use I wouldn't be without them now.

Givi tanklock bags are also very popular but I've never tried them.

Quick photo for you of one of my bags fitted to my Suzuki

I've used a Givi tanklock for a couple of years now.
Very useful bit of kit. It's never moved even at "motorway" speeds and easy to get on and off.
I've just bought a new tank ring so I can use it on the GS. IMG_0123.JPG

    Yes it does mate.
You can see it better from this angle. It also had different mounting positions underneath so the bag can be moved further forwards or back.
