On the way home yesterday evening on the M40, tootling along at 80mph and moved into the 2nd lane after passing a vehicle, I look in my nearside mirror preparing to move into lane1, I do a life saver, all is clear. I indicate and do my second life saver just before I move over and coming up bloody fast in lane 1 is a car. I am almost riding the white line at this point and stop going any further as the car passes inches from my mirror.

If I had not done my second look I would have been wiped out, no doubt about it I would have had my read end modified with a silver BMW where by rear wheel should have been and I would have been 50ft up into the air.

Shortly after in heavy traffic I go past the BMW and in the front are two young lads, their seats as low as possible and the car clearly lowered for a 'racy' look.

I will have to find the bit on my camera and put it on YouTube for you guys to check it out, it was bloody close!

I'm confused, where did he come from? if you moved to lane two passed a vehicle and prepared to return to lane one, how did he get between you and the vehicle you just overtook?

I've had the same happen to me however it was a speeding motorcyclist that probably passed me at 250km/ph plus. I was in the car about to change lanes, did all the usual checks before the action but still did not see this bloke. Fortunately we did not collide, were talking seconds here that saved him.

BMW was bombing it along in lane 1 undertaking everyone else, they could have been swerving across lanes but I will have to look at my camera (front and back) to see hat had happened. The car I overtook in lane two was just sitting there and should have moved to lane 1. So when I had got past the car in lane 2 I was going to move into lane 1 at the speed I was comfy in,

Yeah, what happened to educating people about correct lane usage? We are so backward in driving ettiquete over here, one day they'll teach people how to drive rather than just pass their test

Trouble is most people could not give a damn about anyone else and as we almost never see a Rozzer on the roads now the impatient me-me-me brigade know they can get away with almost anything. See the lane hopping all the time on the M40, especially the four lane section before J3, as the equally prevalent middle lane morons make people consider doing it more and more.

I get you now, I thought the car you overtook was in lane 1, as it was in lane 2 it makes perfect sense.
