Hey, I serviced the old girl today, and when I'd finished and fired her up, the engine light has come on. Please excuse any ignorance, I am by far clued up on anything modern / electrical! - Could it be because I've removed the battery? If not, work done as follows: - Spark plugs - Oil & filter - Changed coolant Was going to do the fuel filter too but noticed the o-ring / washer looks a little perished and didn't want to take the chance, as I had nearly a full tank (mistake number 2 hehe). I've barely touched anything! The only thing it could be maybe is if I got my fuel pipes wrong? I was with a friend so instead of taking a picture, I just assumed 4 eyes would be good enough! Please see my attachments. Is the silver connector on the right some sort of breather / vacuum? If so, should there be a connection on as pictured? The bike runs just as she did before, and did a good 20 miles afterwards. Thanks!
P.S - where is the best place to get the washer for when I change the fuel filter? https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/part...-to-vin-287503/fuel-pump-filter-eng-no-207447 Is it no.17? As they call it 'plate' And it's £30!!
Ok thanks! Is it normal for it to come on then? And why would it of come on do you know? Because I've disconnected bits and pieces?
I had a 955i Sprint RS I did all the things you have done with no light, ( dont worry yet) the o ring is just a basic get one anywhere o ring ( always replace) If I remember then its.. no pipe on right hand "silver thing instead put it on left hand nipple they are breather and overflow and should hang down through to beside side stand in middle to drip (if a tall) on to road. I put pipes on wrong way round and I knew immediately so I suggest you got that right. with all the moving and removing check your connections to ecu and fuses etc while waiting for your 3 cycles also see this https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/tunecu-what-all-you-need-to-know.9582/#post-115916
If you disconnected the battery BEFORE disconnecting anything else, then stripping the bike down shouldn't trip the EML. I wonder if there's any plugs left undone? Go through three cycles of cold/full op. temp/back to cold and see if the light goes out on it's own.
Thanks for the replies! And I wondered if I'd left anything un-done too, but it seems to run and ride just how it did before. Will take it through the cycles in the meantime. And where can I get this washer for the fuel pump cover please does anyone know? Or what do you recommend replacing while it's off / ready to re-fit. Thanks.

Hi Phil, if you mean part 21 on this page yes, that is the fuel pump baseplate gasket, but I would also order all the O-rings on this page as well. http://www.worldoftriumph.com/trium...ock_01=&block_02=100059105-1-2&block_03=23772 If you take stuff apart and the rubber O-rings are old and brittle, you'll kick yourself if you don't have spares.
Rubber seal 21 and you could get something like this Please check this yourself. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/419-Pcs-U...822653&hash=item27dd63d811:g:msMAAOSw3xJVe1z5 Also they charge 4 quid p and p whatever the size of order so stock up, they are not cheap though they are comprehensive and efficient
Thanks very much for your help both of you! And yes I am kicking myself slightly already for not checking things first. As I've now owned her a year and this is my first service I've done, for example I saw the filter was inline, so I just assumed it would be external, one off one on! Also I bought an original Triumph air filter, but it had a decent K&N one in which I've read up is better anyway? Ah well at least I have a spare!
Update! Engine light went off which was good. I have since emptied my tank, and changed the filter, and installed a new washer at the same time. Whilst it was off, I noticed a couple of connections unplugged which you said to look out for. There was 2! One is very dirty and I'm pretty sure it would never have been plugged into anything, and the other is not 100% clean either. One on each side by the way. Here is some pictures, if anyone could have an input as to what they may be? Thanks!
Ok that would make sense, as that is the very mucky one I mentioned. The other one on the right hand side has been cable tied fairly tight to the frame, implying if anything was to plug into it then it would have plenty of slack on it and be (I assume) fairly visible or easy to find! As I say though, she is running fine and the engine light is no longer on.
The way I heard it ...it was included in the loom for the flat 4 they made (Daytona 1200,for one) then left on?
