    Hello All,

I'm trying to take a decision on whether or not to buy a Tiger 800 XRX. I'm based in India, and the issues clouding my judgement are the following

    1. With the new Ducati Multi 950 out there, should I be waiting for it
    2. The Tiger is an old bike, albeit revamped. IS there any danger that they will knock it off the shelves in the next year or or so? I would hate to have a redundant bike
    3. While I'm asking about the Tiger, are there any other recommendations
    4. I ride with my daughter, hence, the pillion seat is important

Thank you for your thoughts and advice

    Regards

    Rahul

    A REDUNDANT bike?
I have never owned a bike that wasn't 'redundant' at some point in my ownership and so I guess most of us. Just because it isn't a current model, doesn't really affect how good a job it does.
Still hear lots of reliability issues with Ducati, you live near a dealer? Fella I sometimes ride with got shot of his multi after 2 years due to all the problems.

Hi and welcome in, 800 Tigers are great bikes as many on here will testify.

Looked at the Africa Twin ??? Fantastic bike to ride, might be one in the Orange garage at some point, that or an 800.

Hello Rahul and welcome to the forum :)

I'm a 800 Tiger xc owner, colour white:cool: which we all know is the best/fastest colour :) had it from new, 2013, with no problems.

Best advice is to have a test ride on both bikes to help you make your mind up.

As Mr O, have you looked at the Africa twin, have been considering one myself also . Good reports in the press over here.

Hello Rahul and welcome to the forum.

Re the Tiger 800 XRx I tried one for about 3 hrs and honestly I found it one of the very best bikes overall that I have ridden. If I had the money I would buy one immediately.

Walk away from the idea of any Ducati nowadays, their electronics are just not reliable enough.

Mate of mine bought a Panigale - after every ride he had to tighten the footpegs and one of the mirrors !!!! That's when the battery wasn't flat when he went to go on a ride !!!:laughing::laughing::joy:

    Welcome to the forum Rahul
I am sure that you will be able to source any component for any bike in India.
Stick with the Triumph Tiger, it'll be around for years.
What about the Royal Enfield Bullet, made in India ?

Mick, thanks for the confirmation on the tiger. After reading all the posts above, I'm very tempted to bite the bullet.....

Since you asked, I actually own a 500 cc royal enfield. Last year they launched a limited edition bike which I was fortunate to get. It's called the blue squadron dispatch. Image attached for your reference

I have an 2012 800 love it, my wife has been on the back and finds it a bit uncomftable after around an hour and a half and finds the wind buffeting a bit of a pain at high speeds! You can get better screens that work great for the rider but I've found no reference concerning pillion. I could , and do, ride mine for fun, work and escapism!

Oh yeah! Forgot to say: went to a triumph dealers the other day and asked about why their touring range was being discontinued, sprint and trophy, they said it was because of the popularity of tigers and explorers amongst the touring types, so I can't see them discontinuing them for a while

    Hello dear friends,

Thanks to your persuasion skills, a lot research and some bending by the dealer, I have succumbed and bought the XRx. It should be home in the next few days and I will post some pics as soon as it's here.

Thank you for your help and support
