I have a fuel leak from where the rubber tube connects to the right hand underside of my fuel tank. It seems to be a balanced tube. The dealer had a look and told me it was fixed, but it's actually made it worse. Bike is only 13 months old and still in warranty but the dealer seems uninterested, any ideas folks??
That's one of my options, I'm in N Ireland and there only is the one dealer so I'm trying not to fall out with them, thanks for the advice though
I am not familiar with the Exporer tank arrangement but it is an unpressurised hose so not the efi flow or return. If it leaks there are 4 possibilities I can think of: The stub fitting in the tank is fractured (unlikely) or distorted (again unlikely) The spring clip has lost its tension The hose is not fully pushed home The hose is split - possibly punctured by clumsy manipulation of the spring clip. I would visually inspect the hose, having slipped the clip out of the way. If the last cm is damaged you should have ebough to snip of the end and refit. In either event I would replace the spring clip with a small jubilee fitted for a more secure union.
Hint. A small vacuum cap or brake nipple cap (to replace your finger!) will seal the tank while you fiddle with the hose.
Set fire to the bike and claim for a new one as the dealer knew there was a problem. That will fire them up a bit! Seriously its not good enough.
Hey folks good news, the dealer actually got back to me. I used the triumph recovery cover to get the bike lifted and it's with the dealer now. Hopefully they'll fix it this time, I'll keep u informed, thanks for all the advice
Hello Guy and welcome to the Asylum - Nursie will be around soon with your meds. Unfortunately the only advice I can offer on a potential safety issue like fuel leaks, is to take it back to the dealer and 'encourage' them to look again. Ask them to sign a declaration that the bike will not catch fire, due to this leak ?
surely the dealer can see there is a problem.........we can they need to sort this out for you. If they refuse, tell them your taking it further if they are not willing to resolve the issue. If still no joy, send a photo to Triumph HQ with the name of the dealer and who you spoke to and there response to the issue. See what Triumph have to say. Local dealer or not they are there to give a service not just to sell bikes.
I finally got my bike back 2 days ago. The dealer had it for 4 weeks!! I actually emailed the CEO of triumph UK and I think it worked. The dealer wasn't best pleased and I don't think we're going to be best mates,,, but 28 days to fix a fuel leak,, come on!! The bike needed a new tank, faulty part on it apparently. Seems to be OK now though. Thanks for all your support.
