It'll be serviced (oil and filters) by the supplying dealer before I pick up next week and comes with a short warranty. So, accepting that I maybe should have asked before paying the deposit, what should I be looking for when I get the bike home for a detailed inspection? And any recommendations on a cheap and secure rear paddock stand?
Valve clearances air filter plugs last done , good battery bearings chain, sprockets Or do you mean specific to T595.
595 specific. Bike appears to have been recommissioned a year ago. Tyres, C&S and brake pads all effectively new, with very few miles. Valves done 4 thou ago. Oil and plugs will be sorted before I pick up. I believe battery is important for starting health and possibly worth fit a MOSFET rect/reg at some point ..... Owt else before I get out and enjoy it?
When I changed the air filter on Sprint I heard a strange sound and thought id done something wrong, then I realised the bike was "breathing"
Only took one of the number plate!..... but is still on the dealers site http://www.teasdale-motorcycles.co.uk/shop/used-motorcycles/triumph-daytona-t595-1998-r-reg/
Check the rear suspension bearings, I'll wager that they are shagged as they are on all T595's unless recently replaced.
So a bit of feedback...... The good bits: the engine feels strong and I like the handling rear linkage had already been done, the tyres, pads and chain also replaced. The bad bits: Both fairing sides have some minor scrapes though I I found some paint that is a good match and I'll sort this once some other stuff has been sorted. The low fuel light, though working on the first tank through didn't on the last.....nice push to the petrol station on the way to work last week! Hopefully just a bulb but is there anything else it could be? It often stops from idle. Not every ride but regularly. Can be a pain when filtering in traffic or generally riding slowly. I have seen mention of CO adjustment on line.......and it appears not to be unusual.....anybody with experience and how it was fixed. And the biggie......it will on occasion either jump/lurch or jump out completely of 2nd gear when accelerating. I have been unable to reliably tie down the exact conditions. I have reworked the gear linkage as this was very sloppy and though this improved the feel of the box/lever it still does it! Again anybody any experience? Or knowledge of how to fix it. It has been picked up by the supplying dealer who will hopefully work some magic but it is always good to have the experience of others in case they are struggling to cure it. Ta
Avoid early ones like the plague. 4th gear breaks up. people have died! Efi is bad at best, usually awful suspension bearings almost certainly shot and expensive to fix. Rear caliper probably seized. Looks pretty though.
Only applies to 2002 model year on. Early ones have a Denso car type. They are very reliable. (good point)
...... fair play to the dealer, he is giving me my money back. Anyone want: - Almost new Original mirrors - 200 miles old. - Original underseat tool set (also almost new) - Original owners manual - Haynes Workshop manual All above bought by me, but now, unfortunately surplus to requirements. Will put them on the For Sale bit later before eBay.
