My new 2017 Tiger XRx clanks when I travel over rough road surfaces, especially the pot holes we all have locally.
The noise can best be described as a 'clanking ', a bit metallic/ a bit slap like.
I have tied up the center stand, which reduced some of the noise.
After inspection, under and around the bike, I have two suspicions, the side stand pivot has some slack between the aluminium stand fork and steel pivot lug which allows it to 'waggle' at right angles to the pivot bolt.
Or, could the chain be slamming down on the swinging arm protectors?
Any experiences of something similar among you guys?

That'll be the centre stand, if you've got one fitted, hitting the underside of the swinging arm.

It's been well documented over the years on the Tiger forum.

    Mine does it.

Thanks for your reply, I had already assumed that and secured it to the passenger foot rest mount with an strap which is taut, so no movement at all, but although half the noise went it there was still clanking.
Now I'm concentrating on the side stand now to see if I can strap that up.There is some play in the fork joint so I might try to insert a thin washer to pack this out.

Update on the clanking noise, strapped up the side stand and center stand, still have the noise over pot holes etc, almost convinced it is the chain, checked it's free play and adjusted it to it's tightest allowable freeplay,,,,,, still have the noise.
Any experience of the chain being a problem out there?

    Solved it!
Realised that the noise wasn't there when I picked the bike up new, so maybe the accessories added later could be a clue. I had an R&G rear hugger fitted and the fitter left out a plastic rivet type screw joining the hugger to the chain guard on advice to fit it after things have settled.
In my wisdom I fitted a small screw and lock nut with the head down, thinking this would be more secure and smaller.
As the hugger is about 5mm thick, and the screw head 4mm deep, I lost 9mm of clearance above the chain top run so when I hit pot holes the chain flexed upwards and grated on the screw head. I took that screw out as it isn't really needed, the clanking noise has gone but because the hugger is 5mm thick some rubbing on it does occur, so I am looking at what I can do there next.
