Hi All. Owned my 2017 Thruxton R for a year. Love the bike but suspension improvement is my major work in progress. Yes I know it's got sexy USD forks and rear Ohlins and the road testers raved about the set up but it's a hard ride on rough roads . I am a lightweight but also 50+ years of motorcycling so I know when something can be improved. I will keep you posted.

    Welcome, Julian.
Suspension on the various Bonneville variations seems to be a bit 'Marmite', you either love it or hate it - or so it would appear. Let us know how you get on. We is nosey buggers, we is!:D

Washington Birtley services on a Friday night. The sweet sound of a hoard of expansion chambers.

There is no way I'm going to use my angle grinder - too much noise. I'll stick to the hammer & chisel thanks.

I'm hoping that I have arrived at the ideal set-up but don't want to go test riding on wet, muddy and salty roads. As I weigh around 65kg in my riding gear I had to go softer or eat more pies (pies would have been cheaper but bad for the environment ). The rear Ohlins are now wearing custom made reduced rate springs and with expert help to set the damping adjustment are proving perfect over a few hundred miles of country roads. The forks have just been rebuilt by Maxton Engineering also with reduced rate Springs, adjusted damper internals and lower viscosity oil. Bike is reassembled and waiting for a riiiiiiiiiiiide!

Welcome to the family. Do hit the upload a file button bottom right corner and let the inmates see the steed. Here in the asylum we like pictures.

With my 21st Century suspension I will be able to corner just like Jimmy & his Norton. (I wish!)
