hi guys have 15 plate America going to use 10 40 power 1 question do I use semi or full synthetic oil what do you guys use cheers
Hi Lud, what oil to use? Well that depends on you really - do you change your engine oil regularly ie every 6 month or 5000 mls (whichever is the sooner) for example? If you do, semi-synth is perfectly OK imo. The single best piece of advice I can give you is to use good quality oil of the correct viscosity and change it often. Keep your engine internals clean and they will last.
THIS Always use Millers ZSS 10w40 (semi-synth) in my bikes. Opie are not always the cheapest, but it's usually delivered next morning, before I go to work. EDIT: LINK to EBAY page, free postage.
Bike has only done 389 miles just finished rebuild will be keeping bike and doing services myself regularly probably use semi then will change every 4k
I've also got an America but I use a variety of oils. I use sunflower for frying chips and general frying eg fish. I use olive oil for salad dressings and sometimes for frying. I use sesame oil as an additive to sunflower oil for stir fries. I always keep some rapeseed oil in as I love the colour. I also flavour olive oil with various things, so I have small bottles of olive oil with chillies, tarragon and garlic, just to add extra flavour to dishes or salads. Hope this helps.
