I want to make a more thorough job of checking the wiring after finding some chafed almost through, so before moving it, can you tell me what the arrowed 'black box' is please.

It's not a flight recorder.... Is it? :) It's not an alarm, as I don't have any remotes for it... Or is it?

Bit dusty under the seat, innit?

Was looking for an image, but can't find it. :confounded:

Shows an ECU with three holes drilled thru it. Owner had tried to fit a tail tidy using long bolts. He just drilled up thru the tail fairing, straight thru his ECU !!!!:laughing::joy::sob:

Then had posted up - I've just fitted a tail tidy, now my bike won't start ????

I had a sneaking suspicion it might be that, thanks @Dozers Dad :)

Is there a specific code reader for this boxotrix, or is that not an option? Be interesting to see what error codes it shows if that's possible. Or does it not work like that.

(kind of right with 'flight recorder', huh :))

    Cheers guys...

Interesting thing, none of the wiring diagrams show an ecu. Odd that... Not that you can always believe the Haynes book of tall tales, but couldn't find it in the owners book either.

Aha. Only plug on it is the one to the right of the seat catch... I'm guessing it's not that kind of girl. Oh, sorry, ecu.

In the owners manual all it shows in that area is a pretty wee box to keep the owners manual in!

    Which isn't there! :)

That makes sense. I just googled the wire colours, and now I have found it on the wiring diagram.

    Thanks for your help :)

Found it in the manual now, under ignition not electrical. There's the thing, have to learn to think like a Haynes manual!
