What sort of gear do people wear? I am open to any recommendations. I like the idea of a water proof one or two piece suit. I have waterproofs but i hate having to put them on over my gear and Its like a sauna inside.lol

My wife and I are using gear from Oxford. I am riding the whole year with it.

I wear a Richa textile jacket with armoured jeans and a pair of waterproof trousers in my tailpack on dry days, same jacket with RST textile trousers on wet days or for touring.

Boots at the moment are leather (army/navy store) ankle boots which are comfy and supportive enough, but they are the weak spot in my waterproofing!

If it's waterproof over gear your looking for I don't think you can beat Scott's leggings and jacket. Totally waterproof and breathable. Bit pricey but if you look after them they are for life. Top quality

Wear same Oxford gear all year. Though I have just bought a new pair Mondial trousers as others sprang a leak somewhere. They did 6 years and 28k miles so not complaining.

I quite agree, except I don't think they're pricey. The Scott 2-piece waterproofs are easily the best of their type. As you say they are genuinely 100% waterproof and breathable (so no sweaty or clammy feeling) but also stretchy, so are designed to be a snug fit and not flap around. They pack up reasonable small into their own bags. Take a look at the Motolegends promo for all the details.

A textile 2 piece suit would be the natural choice. The cheaper end of the market would be a one with a built in waterproof z liner that isn't gortex, next up woukd be one with a gortex liner. The min drawback with these is the outer jacket gets wet, which makes the suit heavier, the wet outer transfers the cold to the rider when temperatures are low and if you're touring or use the bike to commute they take a long time to dry out. If you want to avoid this then a gortex laminate suit is the way to go. At the cheaper end Oxford do some decent stuff, at the other end there's Klim or Rukka but these ate expensive. Getting the correct fit is important so visiting one of the larger bike/clothing and accessories shops would help though Sportsbikeshop do free returns too if you're not sure which size you need. Personally I have a Rukka laminated gortex 2 piece suit, it's coming up to 10 years old and is still totally waterproof and has D30 armour. Many stores do sales between now and the spring as they look to shift old stock so you could pick up a bargain.
