Hi all, Some advise would be much appreciated!!! Having recently completed a 2000 miles trip around the uk I noticed that when I turned the ignition on, the red oil pressure light comes on. As soon as the engine starts it stays off...hasit always done this and I'm just being even more idiotic than normal or do I need to pop some oil in??? If anyone can turn their ignition on and let me know if it's on that would be amazing!!!!! Thanks and sorry for being stupid!
Hi DGF I think you"ll find it's actually an oil pressure light which when operating correctly shows there is enough pressure (and therefore oil) in the motor.
Ok mate I stand corrected I said....pretty sure You said....I think Maybe someone else knows for sure and can enlighten us
Yes its the oil pressure light comes on when turned on and goes out when engine has started and oil pressure is built up very quickly if it stays on then there is a problem. Turn of and get it checked. Ride Safe Joe.
Now pass the JD yer tight bastid !!!!! Then I said, would you care for a drink old boy, Then you said, what a topping idea, I'll have a gin n it please......................
Thanks all!!! I thought that was the case but got in a right panic over it!!! Enjoy the nice weather!
Sorry thebiglad don't drink. I'll make you a tea or coffee any day. And glad to help. We have all been there. I purchased a jap import Honda 650 some years ago. Riding it home I noticed a red light coming on. Pulled in at the services and topped up the oil and of I went again the same thing happened but the bike felt good. Thought I'd been sold a dud pulled over at the next services phoned the dealer who said no the bike is good bring it back we will check it over. Then I spotted a oriental gent and grabbed him and said please mate read that light for me. He replied actually i'd Chinese not Japanese but you light says speed you are doing over 15 mph and it comes on. Boy did I feel a prat. Ride Free Joe.
Hi Joe my drink comment was aimed at Dilligaf our forum legendary tippler, not you - although if you do have any hooch going mouldy in a cupboard somewhere...........................................
thebiglad. Yes I did think that but I'll still make you a tea or coffee if you're ever coming this way Maidenhead or Slough and want to quench your thirst. Drink I have two grown lads bigger than me and I don't think I would get a chance. They eat every thing drink any thing that bubbles and drive me crazy not really true I love them to bits. I am actually sitting here waiting to hear from my eldest who is racing at Anglesey in the thunder sport on a Triumph 675 may I add. He is in second place this year and I think that's were he will end up this season. As much as I want him to say Day no more racing it has to be his choice and all I can do is pray the good Lord is watching over him. Any way nothing wrong with a tipple or two for those who enjoy it. I used to take a little but it didn't like me I would wake up somewhere in a gutter soaking wet from rain of course and then have to stagger home and explain where I had been which I didn't even know. Nice to Talk Joe.
