Thanks for your input, @Dawsy. I appreciate your thoughts. It seems to me that traffic on this site has likely lessened because many have gone to "the other side" as @Oldskool called it. Perhaps at some point when I have more time (hmmm, when I'm retired in a couple of years?!!) I might feel up to learning a new online platform. But I have to do that with my work already more than I enjoy. Well, we'll see what tomorrow brings..... BTW, I haven't had that photo loading problem that you and others have mentioned. Maybe it's related to me just using my laptop to post?
I prefer it because it's not painfully slow to use like this one, and is generally easier and nicer to use. Also, it's run by a forum member and feel it has more of a future.
If it's the other site I think it is, it's a very, very, VERY different environment to this one. Not for everyone, and certainly not for me.
I don't think it's the one you're thinking of bud, I know that one too and as you say that is very different indeed
It's the other other site, set up about 6 months ago, similar vibe as this one. I'm guessing you were thinking of the other site set up a (couple?) of years ago.
I'm on the "other site" although I occasionally pop up on here. I migrated over when the spam problem on this site became ridiculous, despite @Havit's valiant efforts to combat it. It annoyed me that Rob seemingly did nothing about it or could be bothered to even try. Although slightly different in format, I find the other site easier to use, it's brighter, probably more active now and you can upload all your photos in one go. I probably won't renew my subscription on here when it's due and that may influence how much I use this site in the future. Most of my rideout posts are on the other forum, and I haven't duplicated them on here as a lot of people will have already seen them. I haven't even let on that I bought another bike back in August on here!
Just to let people know, crispey and tiglet are still very much around, just not very active on either forum much. If anyone remembers recycled rocker who was last on here some years ago, I actually met him the other month. He's a member of a local motorcycle group I joined earlier this year and he recognised my name from the forum. He's alive and well, still riding and fixing bikes in North Yorkshire
Much the same here, joined the other forum due to Robs lack of interest here. An easily rectified problem ran on for months wich was beyond a joke. I let my subscription lapse and will not renew. Now the adds here make the forum a very slow clunky experience. I do still vist, I have friends here but spend more time on the other one as its faster and easier.
@steve lovatt Great to hear from you with a few updates, Steve! I miss seeing you here. Sounds like I may need to "visit" some of my forum friends on the "other" forum once in awhile...at least to find out about things like YOUR NEW BIKE! What's the scoop?? Thanks for the updates on crispey and tiglet and recycled rocker, too. Please say hello to them from me when you see them.
Will do Sandi, I'm sure they'll be glad to hear from you. You should pop over to the other site and take a look - there are some familiar faces on there! Yes, my new bike - I took the Yamaha for a service and it cost me more than I was expecting It's a 2008 V7 Classic, one owner and only 2500 miles from new - just couldn't resist!
Ah Recycled Rocker, I met him at Squires with The big lad a fair few years ago. I did wonder what he’s up to.
Survived but a little damp. The road in front of my house had 3 ft of water over it. An ancient live oak in my yard was badly damaged but will survive. And we were without power for ten days. But there is good news. No bikes were damaged.
