In my Z1300 days aged about 19 years old, i had already written off one Z1300. My next Z1300 was fitted with a wedge sidecar. Looked like a cake slice. Leading like forks. Fitted with a Mini heated plummed into the 1300 water system. Top of the range Pioneer stereo system with a 100w amp. Windscreen wiper. The only person that trusted me was an old school mate. We set off for a 2 week holiday in France. On the way back to the ferry we both thought sod it and turned, 3 months later after seeing all of Europe we came back to the UK. At the time i was earning as i see it way too much at 19 self employed, I set off for Russia and Mongolia on my own this time. Up to week 6 was a real eye opener. As i was leaving Russia toward Mongolia the sidecar being on our near side but being on their off side i was hit by a lorry hard on from behind. I was tossed vertical with the bike about 20 foot in the air. That's all i remember but was told the whole of the como landed on me. Lucky to be alive after 12 weeks in a Russian Hospital. Broke both legs, Both arms, Pelvis broke. Neck Snapped and a 3 inch plate in my head. At the time i had more screws in me than Barry Sheen. Never rode a Como again. I will continue my trip to Mongolia next year

Wow what a story, I think I would have thought twice about continuing after that had happened. Good luck for your up and coming trip. And of course keep us all updated on your prep and the actual trip...

I will. This time i will get to China by road. I know the Tiger isn't a perfect bike for the roads of Mongolia and Russia. But i can only improve the suspension so far and hope. If i can make Russia on a half ton plus Combo i think i have a chance this time

Agreed, can’t image it is that easy to control either, given the power output from the bike..

Seen at the FIM Rally in Finland Build was started by current owners father and his son and a friend were assembling it. made from most of a Merc' saloon.
