My steamer 900 has carb issues its popping farting etc and would rev through the range and fuel is leaking out of carburettor on far right of the bank I have tried to do a rebuild but the issue I have is the flat heads for the needles are rounded off due to someone not being gentle enough and cock handed I want to do a full rebuild on them but cash isn't available to do that just yet but I'm more than capable I think but how do I get the brass needles out without damaging the carbs
If they are rounded then only option is drill em out & fit new/used. Brutal yes. Ive managed to take my carbs apart several times & touch wood they`ve never leaked after. I always rubbed brake cleaner on the seals to make them swell a bit & they are fine. Hope you get it sorted.
The fuel leak from the carb could be float needle worn or punctured float. If so I think you can get replacements from Sprint mfg, triumphparts.co.uk. I never had my carbs off personally but if yours are off the bike could you use heat, ie hair dryer or hot air paint stripper on the jets as well as plus gas to loosen them?
Yea I agree I'm gonna replace them completely I think tbh they're quite far gone and I think replacing them will probably be better for the bike lol but thank you I found a fella in Loughborough and gonna collect em Saturday
