Hi All, it's been maybe 3yrs when I saw an early Rocket that had gone to the dark side ..! The owner did thousands of klms each month, gypsy life style on two wheels , he might have been a Vietnam Veteran not sure memory vague on that side of the story. He was getting 30 & 40,000 plus miles.He said the heavier the bike the better it was likely to handle the change of running on car tyre technology. Lots of counter steering required for cornering at high speeds for any bend, but he found it safe enough , just find the appropriate lower pressures to run in the tyre , as the recommended car pressure is way to high, if the pressure is right the tyre wall and running surface will flex enough for the edge to mold to the road. It takes quite a bit of experience/practice on car tyre's to get anywhere near bike tyre ridability. Cheers
This is quite a common set up with guys in the us that do big mileages on all sorts of roads, you will probably find lots of info on the IBA website ( Iron butt Association ) guys regularly fit CT's on FJR's beemers wings etc and not just on interstates doing big miles per day.
