Got the T shirt and unfortunately back for another biopsy next Tuesday.... Your doctor will organize a blood test all you need to do is ask....well worth the trouble.
I had one of those "MOT" checks last year. Being a sprightly 57 I wonder if that would have been part of the tests they carried out. (Took bloods etc)
To a degree there are some that are considered to be more reliable but not used in the UK ...i checked...i would have known nothing but for the PSA test.
Well done Repooh for bringing this subject up, a lot of men just can't be arsed going to the doctors, with all the faff of trying to get an appointment. I had the finger and camera up my balloon knot last year, and every couple of years I have to shit on a stick to check for bowel cancer. Thankfully all ok. As the great Billy Connolly said, once you're over 50 the doctor takes an over whelming interest in your arse, and if you can see both his hands while he's doing it, you're in trouble.
As far as I was told the PSA results aren’t always conclusive. The PSA result may be negative but it doesn’t mean that you don’t have a problem so my GP informed me.
My useless doctor tells me PSA is just an indicator, finger is better, if they are both dodgy then biopsy, my brother (god rest his sole) told me the biopsy is something else and not in a good way, but necessary. My brother in-law has had his prostate removed, he tells me that wasn't the most fun, even with it gone his PSA is now rising again, meaning the cancer has migrated into other organs/tissue Fuck you cancer
My brother in law Ken couldn't be arsed to get himself checked out despite having all the symptoms. When he eventually got it checked he was diagnosed stage 4, inoperable and terminal. I have shared many hospital appointments with him over the last year. It's heartbreaking watching this insidious disease slowly killing him. Guys, as said many times here, get yourselves checked out. The earlier the better.

The problem is you can have no symptoms and still have cancer present..... i did the only way they picked it up was through my PSA being 10 should be under 6 for over sixties i didn't even have the finger up the bum as i had no symptoms like you might see for prostatitis which is a non cancerous (usually) problem and causes frequent peeing etc.......so for the sake of a simple blood test that could save your life its something all men from 40s onward should have done on a yearly basis.
I echo repooh and others comments. Do it for you, your family and your friends. given what ladies have to put up with a smear test, we can do this. Stay Awesome
At Tyne & Wear we get an invitation for the camera at 55 to check bowel cancer. My macho shit image regarding the sacred back button meant I ignored it. I was 58 when my mate phoned, (he was 55 and just had it) telling me he had bowel cancer. A 9hr operation and some safety first chemo saved his life. If that had been me I would not be here now. Suffice to say the good lady simply made my appointment and made me go. Fortunately all clear, along with the shit scoop test quite recently. Just need to go and request the prostate test now for peace of mind. Just do it, you know it makes sense!!
