Anyone in the uk upgraded their 1200 suspension yet. Im considering changing out the rear shocks for a better shock not gold coloured and not bank breaking. Also thinking about improving the springs in the forks. Any ideas folks ?
What and still paid to take those gold forks and rear springs off to have them painted black. ! Oh and have the reat of the bike painted green also as its not available in the R. ! Umm i dont think so.
Wilbers for shocks? Miles ahead of Hagon, and not as expensive as ohlins. Also come in black. Forks are probably cheap non adjustable damper rod units from the photo. Springs won't do much to help.
I focussed on the front end first, rear seems OK for now, but obviously can be upgraded later if I want So, front end. Initially went for Racetech emulators, so sent the forks away for that to be done. However.the Thruxton has a cartridge, but only in the RHS leg. So what I got back was the right leg untouched and an emulator in the left. That was not at all successful, expensive lesson learnt, and felt I was misled by the supplier. Second attempt; Tracker fork internals from Ktech. The kit has compression damping in the left leg, and rebound in the right. Kit includes progressive springs and all the necessary spacers etc. Full adjustable damping both ways and pre-load adjustment, all on the top of the legs. This has worked really well. Forks don't "top out" any more, straight line bumps are much smoother, and the whole bike feels a lot more planted when subjected to bumpy corners. Very pleased with the set up. It's not a job you can do yourself, sliders have to modified by a Ktech agent. When I do get around to the back end, it will definitely be Ktech again. I'm with you on painting the chav gold bling on the R!
