I'm assuming you will include all anti-theft measures such as data-tagging; alarm/immobiliser; physical anti-theft devices such as U-locks?

I assume you have looked on the comparison web sites if not worth a try. I got my insurance from Hastings via Compare the Market. There was quite a large difference between Hastings other companies.

I guess it's your age that goes against you as my premium was £250 for a new Explorer with zero NCB. As I has had a long break from biking before buying the Explorer.

Interestingly they took no notice of the fact that I had an alarm, data tag and U Lock.

Your age will be a disadvantage compared to us old gits but that still seems ridiculously high to me.
Agree with Rooster about alarms - When I had the Bonnie it was fitted with an Acumen Tempest alarm - when the renewal came up I told them I was going to remove it and they (Swinton Insurance) said the premium would go up by £3.00!

Keeping it garaged (if that's an option) should lower the premium.

just an add on to the above, with compare the market you get 2 for 1 on cinema tickets for tues and weds, if you have a girlfriend or t'other and go to the movies quite a bit, it could be worth considering if your buying from a site, I wouldn't do it just for the tickets but it could sway where you use. I got it for a days travel insurance to Scotland ,£2.50, and my wife goes to the movies with a friend nearly every week, down here that's 8-10 quid saving so it could build up to quite a lot. just an idea

If someone older than you owns and insures a bike you can use the bike as a named rider on the insurance but they need to be the main user.

I have always found that a garage is essential to keep the cost low. From my experience I have found the comparison sites useful in the past, I prefer moneysupermarket as for me they always come out cheaper. My postcode is also much more expensive than other people I know, problem with living in a city like Birmingham I guess, dont know where youre from, maybe you can move to the sticks, lol.
On a side issue, Carole Nash , my bike insurer, sent me an email guaranteeing to beat my car quote if I took out my car insurance with them. My car costs me £428 with all the possible add ons including european breakdown cover. Carole Nash , after waiting for some time on the phone quoted me over a grand, cannot recall exactly as i was falling out of the seat of my van at the time, lol.

Not being funny, but sometimes just asking upfront if they have any discounts or promotions you can take advantage of yields results.
I did this in Feb with my car insurance and got £80 off, reduced to £300!

Bike is insured with Carol Nash, similar prices to other insurers, when they gave me their lowest quote, I then asked if they can include a basic breakdown package in the price and they did! Then I asked if they had anything else to sweeten the deal (I actually said that) and he said he would send me a pair of Oxford thermal inner gloves

Got my renewal quote from Carol Nash last time which was around £180. Got them down to around £150 over the phone. Said I'd ring them back in a few days if I found nothing better. However, I found an offer of exactly the same cover from CN themselves on a comparison website (confused Brian.com I do believe) of just over £100 and decided to be cheeky and rang them back to tell them what I'd found. The guy on the other end of the phone went through all the details (mine and theirs) and agreed that the price was as per the comparison site. RESULT!!:)
Insurance companies do 'try it on' so you have to be sharp. :p
The Yorkshireman in me was delighted!! :D:D

I have the Tiger (garaged), the Trident and the Enfield (driveway) all insured through Bennetts on one policy - fully comp with RAC European breakdown cover, helmet and leathers cover and legal protection for £306.49.

Hi Rhys, when I first got my Thruxton I insured it through bennetts for around 280 I think, with 0 ncd kept in shed and helmet and leathers, when it came to renewing it with the same company it was nearly 900!!! Went on the Internet and got it back to around 300. With Hastings, it's due again soon and I bet bennetts will be cheaper than Hastings! Insurance works in mysterious ways!

Mrs has her Street Triple with Carol Nash for £185.00 fully compatible but that's with 4 years ncb. 45 year old.
£2500 Sounds excessive as my 21 year old son had his 600 Bandit insured for under £300 with Bennetts or mcn I think.
