Last weekend I completed my first overseas trip which was a 3 day sprint to Dieppe and back Frid to Sun, via Dover and Calais. Dieppe was great and riding out to Rouen on the Saturday was excellent. Thoroughly great experience apart from Dover and Calais, especially Calais being not so pretty, but hey that’s the way it goes. Loved the fact that French roads were in excellent condition and that as well as fellow bikers, kids, parent and grandparents all acknowledge us bikers as we rode through towns. Also loved how the car drivers move over to let you past and you are given, on most occasions, the right of way on roundabouts. Loved it
Hi Watty and congrats on losing your continental virginity - Europe is a big wide playground for us bikers, come and take another bite !!!!!
Hi mate, the chunnel is a good and quick way across but when I have used it in the past found it a bit expensive. I tend to use the Newhaven-Dieppe crossing nowadays as it's dirt cheap and I go through the night so don't feel I'wasted any time. Next time you come across give me a bell and I'll show you round the Centre of France.
Tha Thanks for the advice, I actually heard someone on the boat back saying that the Newhaven Route was a better way Will defo give you a shout when next coming over, cheers
Some great roads to ride around dieppe and down to Rouen, we were aiming to get across to Honfluer but just didn’thave enough time, so perhaps next trip.
Stayed in Pont L’Eveque a few years back when we did the Normandy landings etc and had a run into Honfleur, it is lovely. We were in a convertible so the next best thing to biking.
