my speedmaster alarm started going off for no reason then wouldn't start, almost as if immobilized. All lights were coming on and the AA started the bike straight from the starter. Rode bike home. Now after two weeks the bike doesn't seem to have power but headlight works and indicators work just no ignition light. Any ideas or can I remove the alarm and immobilized?
Hi peter, Did it work for that 2 weeks or is this the first time you've started it since? Is the alarm/immobiliser factory/dealer fitted? Did the alarm make a noise when you de-armed it?Check your battery voltage and connections. Is the bike still under warranty?
I couldn't start it but all the lights came on and indicated ready to start. The lights indicators and horn work still. The alarm was factory fitted when I bought it new. Just finding out if still under warranty but metropolis in London where I bought it are taking there time to come back to me.
Hi Peter, so if I understand you correctly other electrical items work - headlights etc - but not the starter motor? This suggests to me a lack of electrical supply either to the starter motor solenoid or a cut-off created by the ECU due to a low voltage detection. To verify whether this is the right track or not, all you need is a car-sized 12v battery of known charge, not connected to anything, then using jumper cables connect the positive of the separate battery to the pos. on the bike battery and the neg of the spare battery to a good earthing point on the bike - NOT the battery earth. If under these conditions the bike fires straight up, your battery is faulty.
Tried that and still n Tried that still nothing. I do believe it is the alarm/immobliser and want to remove it. Anyone done this before? Any hints or directions?
If it's the same as the one I had on my T100 (Triumph supplied and fitted) they are easy enough to remove, you just need to make two jumpers once the alarm is removed. There are two multi-plugs like where my finger is, one is the OBD port, the other is the one which will need the bridging cables.
Thanks for that. I think mine may be different the alarm is under the tank. I have contacted a triumph shop nearby and they are sending me a plug. I just need to know the procedure to fit plug and remove the alarm.
