Hi there all. As the username says, I've been a custom Harley man until now but I'm just spreading my wings a bit. I've bought a 2009 Bonneville which I want to chop into a custom bike. Before I spend a few days or weeks Googling I thought there must be someone here who can shortcut the process for me.

I've stripped the bike down making careful notes of the wiring having referenced a diagram I found online. My big question concerns the management system. Is it possible to buy a control unit that simplifies the wiring. The bike I want to turn it into will be much reduced - I don't need a kickstand switch, clutch switch, tipover detector etc. All I want is a unit that controls the injectors. Does anyone make such a thing?

Thanks in advance - I suspect you'll be hearing from me a lot over the next little while as I learn about Triumphs.

Cant say i have heard of a aftermarket ECU for one but i would suspect that some of the stand alone ECUs could be adapted but I would suspect that you can just short out the things like kick stand and other safety/nanny lock outs and cut down on the non essential wiring.

Yes, I'd thought about just shorting stuff out or ignoring it altogether, which may be the only option but I like to keep things clean and that seems a bit of a bodge. Thanks for taking the trouble to respond, I appreciate the help.

I'm a bit surprised there are no sensors on the exhaust. Is that standard on fuel injected Triumphs?

Probably before they decided to add lambdas to keep low load emissions down the later ones do but they are just a token attempt as the ECU goes open loop at something like 1500rpm.

If you have a diagram of the ECU connections and sensors etc i can take a look and tell you what you can probably loose or short as i used to do a lot of tuning etc on car ECUs.

Excellent. Thanks HT. I'll look into that. It's the sort of feedback I was hoping for

Thanks yet again Tricky. I've learned a bit more in the last day. I can see my loom does have Lambadas but they've been shorted out, or had some sort of device inserted. Which kinda leads me to think that my bike probably doesn't have the stock pipes.

Thanks for your offer - I'll continue investigating and get back to you when I need some help if that's OK?
