Got a 2016 America and Ive never felt safe with the side stand in my opinion it does not allow the bike to lean over enough and leaves the bike almost upright in fact if you turn the bars to the right on level ground the bike feels like its going to fall over. What do you folk think ? Dont really want a centre stand but may get one for peace of mind. Thanks...be safe.

Hi Beanie, have you upgraded your suspension yet ? I did my 2009 America, put new stiffer internal emulators in front end and stiffer 10mm longer rear shock absorber's on the rear, made the bike taller (less sag) found the side stand was just right after this.

    Cheers capt.

    Hi mate
My speedmaster hand book says the handle bars should be to the left when using the side stand

Chuffing hell, they're leaving themselves open to claims stating that in their handbook.
Under normal circumstances I would agree, but what about inclines and cambers ?
There is an art to safely parking a bike on a side stand as we have all probably learnt to our expense.
It's all to do with the angle of the dangle!
