Start bike, engage gear, ride to dealer, pull pants down, smile nicely, wait 4hours, bust a months wages, ride home no spanner. What bike is it BTW
Or you could get tuneECU with the right interface module Bluetooth or wired for whatever bike you have and reset it using that. Or just ignore the spanner...
What bike and year? From about 2013 triumph locked their ecu's so tune ecu may not work. The newer models with the tft dashes can normally be reset in the menus. If your somewhere in between 2013 and tft dashes you will probably need a triumph dealer to reset it.
Might have been later that they locked the system cos I was able to reset the spanner on my 2015 Speed Triple with tunecu, android phone and Bluetooth dongle. Some have done it with dealertool apparently.
I had problems with tuneECU until I got the right ODB-II device. One wouldn’t work at all, another would read settings and the third allowed for a reset of the spanner (bike, not the user). The tuneECU website helps explain.
I posted a thread last year titled "Maintenance indicater". Click on the search icon to get to it. This should help you out
I think You can only reset the spanner with the android Bluetooth version of tune ecu. If it’s a tiger go to the tiger800 forum and someone’s put to get her some software called tiger tool that does it
I use tune ECU with Android and the correct triumph OBD blue tooth module. You can reset the light and choose which mileage intervals you want it to come on. Getting the correct module is key. Mine is ELM327 OBD 2 V1.4 £19.95 eBay Autofixdirect
Looks like I've got to disqualify my statement about TuneEcu. Changed my oil today and tried to turn off the spanner, and TuneEcu said my bike is "unregistered" and wouldn't let me change my service interval, which essentially turns off the spanner. Apparently there's been a software change in which you now have to purchase a license agreement (Feb. 2021), and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to go about registering the bike to use the APP like I did before. Even by trying to follow the instructions given on the TuneEcu website to do so, the APP will not correspond to what the website says to do. Looks like I too, may have to go to the dealer and "drop my britches"
That was a technique advised for some Y2K fixes (remember that?!?). Set the day back to the year that had dates/days match. 28 years I think... Edit: That’s a great money saving tip. Buy one calendar each year for 28 years and then reuse them. This means you don’t have to buy 56 calendars! Awesome - it will save tens of pounds over your life time! Don’t thank me...
Just last night I have experienced the Tuneecu update problem ! It has always worked perfect and now says unit unregistered, so I to am going round in circles trying to sort it out, if I do I will post it here .
I contacted Alan, the originator of TuneEcu, after my last post, and he responded to say there is a bug in the new software that should be worked out shortly. So there's still hope for TuneEcu. But in the meantime, I've jumped onto the Dealertool band wagon, and ordered a unit
