I ordered a screen when I got the bike but now I'm thinking of not bothering having it fitted as I like it as it is. The question is does it actually help when going at speed or is it just for looks

It must keep some of the wind off but as I havnt riden one without a screen couldn't tell you how much..I think it looks better with the screen or should I say the lights look better with the screen!

They do, so removing it requires some sort of blanking off for the holes.

Prefer the look and the ride without. My 2011 speed had it fitted, and my 94r doesn't. Won't be fitting one.

    We're all different tho...

Personally I prefer the look without, haven't ridden one with so can't comment how effective they are. One positive side effect of minimal wind protection seems to be that I get less bug splat on the visor. The missus usually rides with me on her Daytona675 and I've noticed since buying the 94R that I've always got a cleaner visor than her, that wasn't the case previously when I had the Multistrada or SprintST1050. Perhaps more bugs on the chest though, so a screen's going to keep some wind blast off your body but likely to direct more to your head may be?

I though it was bolt straight on with the 2016 S/R

No drilling on the 2016, but drill with others. That's why I didn't have one on my 2015 triple

I like the look with the screen fitted, and it gives a bit of protection from the wind.
