I bet this has been said before, our newer triumphs have all the usual emission rubbish attached the same as a car, our bikes have smaller engines and clean. So why the hell should we pay £95.00 a year, Ive seen big cars and vans with big engines only pay £30 a year, my own VW passat 2.0 diesel is only £30. Whats going on. To whom can we complain.???
Bought myself a new car a few weeks ago, the days of low VED are going. Old car was a 63 plate 1.6 oil burner £30 pa. New car, a 200bhp turbo charged petrol - £145. If they emission test motorcycles at the MOT, they'll know who's removed the CAT. This could may result in an MOT failure.....just a thought T
You should worry, on the new car we’ve just bought the tax is £855 for the first year then £465 a year for the next 5 years!
I'm happy to pay the current tax on my bikes, if it means less interference from Government in our lives and motorcycles.
I agree, since posting, I see very sensible reasons for just leaving it be. I shall now wind my neck in.
Which has a £310 surcharge for the first 5 years simply because it was more than £40000. Now that is simply money making as it does no more harm than one costing £39999.99.
It’s now a £320 surcharge this year, and is likely to go up next year. Totally agree, it’s pure money making taxation of the people who work hard to buy nice things. Haven’t been able to find any legitimate reason why it’s been implemented.
It's a numbers game, if it's based on the retail sticker price of $39,999, and it's worth $55,000 to the buying consumer, just add $15,001 shipping charge untill your are in an accident and the insurance looks only at the sticker price. Car lots are full of new previously ownef cars sold shortly after people got the tax, registration, and insurance bill.
