It's not often that I give a sh*t when a "luvvy" dies but today is an exception. For anyone of a certain age, The Sweeney was the Police drama to watch this side of the pond back in the glorious non PC 70's. Dennis played many great roles in his career but to me he always was and will be DS Carter to his "guvner" DI Jack Regan. Villain, "Who the hell are you?" Regan, "We're the Sweeney son and we haven't had any dinner". Police dramas are ten a penny these days but will they be remembered like this one? I doubt it, at least, not by me they won't.
