    You to Privateer.
Remember telling my Mum I was leaving home to Marry Calamity Jane. Can't remember how old I was. But Mum said it was a long way to walk and I had better get a job first so I could support her. She used to sing once I had a secret love. You know I believed it was me. Funny how just a saying or word from someone can bring back so many good memories. I am still smiling and feel all warm.
    Regards
    Joe.

I wake up every Saturday at 530 am to ride up the canon by myself before the sun is out. I enjoy the early light and take in the fresh cool air. There is nothing better than that! Once at the top I enjoy a cup of coffee while I soak in the view of this magnificent earth. Post some pics of some of your great views.

Did a bit of big group ride on Saturday and then yesterday I rode over by myself (at 7.30am!) to Edinburgh to help get the EWMCC stand set up at Saltire Motorcycles. Preferred the solo ride more! :joy: Too many people is carnage and on Saturday there were about 70 of us!

Good to see more women coming into biking! In previous clubs some of the women have been a bit "driving miss daisy" and I feel like that kind of perpetuates the idea that women can't/shouldn't ride motorcycles. Have to say most male bikers I've spoken to are all for it, but there's still the odd few who don't believe women can ride. Curious as to what you all think?

Some of lassies in the EWMCC are excellent riders. Once I've got a bit more experience I want to do a track day!

I used to go out with a lass up in Yorkshire who could ride rings around most people on either her R1 or later her Hornet. Riding skills are just that regardless of gender, I have seen plenty of shite riding from guys so think it's more about training, practice, confidence and natural ability as well as an acceptance of your skill level ;);)

and what do the women think about the men? I am a man, consider myself still learning compared to most men and women. I get that clubs may be men or women only, that's up to them, but I don't get why anyone feels they have a right to decide or judge who should ride or not. I defend the right to ride as well as I can, no matter how crap at it I may be!!

At the moment riding solo because I've just started riding big bikes. I do intend to get out on a few group rides in the not too distant future though. I'd like to give them a go at the very least!

I've ridden with bad riders, male and female. I think generally because more women I know are just coming to riding now, whereas a lot more men have ridden since they were younger. There are the odd few 'born again' bikers, true.
I guess it all just depends on how your road craft is generally. I've been driving many years so I pay attention when I ride. But I think a lot of youngsters coming to riding at 17 might be a bit more of a liability.

I enjoy both solo and group rides. Early years was sports bike group rides, tearing round and egging each other on and I learnt a lot about my ability and others over those years. I do like a nice potter out on the bike alone now and just enjoy the freedom and be as fast or as steady as I like with no pressure. Even nice to stop in a layby for a cup of tea and a chin wag with fellow bikers, swapping stories about roads and bikes.

Heading out on the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride on the 29th September...Big group, slow ride, just a bit of a fun experience. Distinguished Ladies welcome too....

Do you get as many women "born again"bikers ?
As far as I’m concerned the more the merrier.
