I've had a couple of bikes where the oil was over cooled in very cold weather so l used to fit a blanking plate to get round it. On speed triples the oil cooler is in just about the stupidest place possible, right near the exhaust and usually blocked with road crud.
However as they are known to run on the hot side l personally would not recommend removing it.

Why don't you run a series of thermocouples in your oil circuit at various locations, type J should do it, logged onto a logger and then upload your results for better advice?
Obviously without cold ( pun) hard data it is impossible to advise on your location requirements ;)

All very tongue in cheek, but without proper research data then only an idiot could recommend removal especially considering the money spent by the manufacturers in trials in the first place.
