Hello all, been reading that REDX is a upper cylinder lubricant, but really have no requirement for that these days, that's something we all know, but what I didn't realise till yesterday when reading the guzzi forum is that REDX mixed with the fuel obviously in older bikes will prevent rusting in the fuel tank, thought it might be worth a mention as most of our bikes become garage queens over the winter and lockdowns, also todays petrol doesn't help.
you're right it does smell nice, forgot to mention though that I don't think catalitic converters don't like it.
What cat? I thought everyone ripped them out re: De-Cat/X-pipes etc. Can we even get RedX or Castrol R? I remember my Dad always put a couple of shots in his BSA's. I do add Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube to the gas - don't know if it really does anything and it doesn't even smell! Maybe a spoonful of Castor Oil would work?
The only thing with ‘R’ is if it’s left in the carbs even mixed with petrol for a few weeks it will gum the buggers up. Don’t ask how I know
