As Joe says it's probably not charging correctly, as mentioned by another member I would buy a volt meter, they are inexpensive, from memory Halfords sell them around £12 as do Screw Fix. I have attached a photo of a GSXR running with the volt meter on, that test is simplicity itself, you will soon get to grips using it to diagnose more complex procedures.
Oh well, I dont think its the bike for me so might get work done and sell end of summer and look at a street/speed triple, I'm glad I bought it but I don't think super sports are for me

Chubzilla Sure thing you come right back. That's what we are all about. Testing the reg there was at least a couple of threads on here explain how to test. And I am positive triumph made a longer version of the wires clearly as it was found that the existing reg was over heating and had no air flow. But don't get disheartened we have all been in your shoes and we are even learning with your posts. Joe.
Thanks bud. I had read when I was looking before that some people have used an 'r1' stator as an upgrade so that may be an option. I'm not that disheartened, well a touch but I'm glad I got the daytona 650 as my first bike, I think I would have been disappointed if I'd settled for the sensible option instead of the one I wanted. it's more about the comfort of the bike itself, I think sit up and beg would suit me more so street/speed triple if money allows or a bandit, I do really like this forum so will probably stay either way
Hi Chubzilla, MOSFET is the way to go as an upgrade, I paid £120 for the last one I bought last year, it's a simple replacement, no alterations needed to any wiring etc, it comes with fully easy to follow instructions if you are not familiar with replacing one.

I've used Redex for many years in my Trident and have only once had a problem with it misfiring and running rough - that was the time that I over wintered it without any Redex (or similar) in the tank and then took it out for the first ride of the new year. A quick visit to the nearest Halfords (about 3 miles away as luck would have it!) to buy a bottle of the red stuff and put some in the tank had the bike purring away beautifully within a couple of miles!
