Hello people my name is Dave and have just signed up to the forum today, How is everybody doing? I am just wanting to ask a question if that is Ok, I purchased a 2003 Daytona 600 a few weeks ago to use in all weather and to be fair its in great condition and only the chain and sprockets needed renewing. From first glance i can see this is the original chain and sprocket, The bike has 16000 miles and is original from mot certificates all backed up to prove this, I never checked the number of teeth on the front and just purchased a standard upgrade kit for a straight swap-replacement. Upon inspection-replacement i noticed the front is 16 teeth and the rear 45? The one i received was a 15-45.Is this something triumph changed to the bike that was never changed on mine perhaps, If so could anybody give me the outcome on how the bike felt with the lower front sprocket. possible loss in top end? Also noticed on tune ecu about the 15-45 map? hmmm Thank you in advance.
Just bear in mind that gearing is something mechanical, whereas maps are electronic and based within the ECU. I can't on the face of it see any reason why someone would refer the gearing when talking about maps? According to the link the std front sprocket is 14 !!!!! http://www.chaingangchainsandsprockets.com.au/triumph-specs.html
Hello thebiglad Yes i understand maps relate to electronics, i have owned my fair share of fuel injection bikes in the past, last being a KTM RC8 which had no problem understanding that aspect. I can see there is some misconception regarding the standard front sprocket on a few sites i have checked so i decided to download a manual and in that manual states the original is a 16 tooth front 45 rear, My bike was this exact gearing this manual stated. I was just a bit lost when i received 15-45 in the post when this was ordered on the exact bike model. The first kit i ordered came with cheap Powerite sprocket which have had some bad reviews so i decided to send the whole package back as they wanted more money to swap the sprockets for the JT ones i have been use too. This kit came with AFAM steel sprockets and the same chain as the last kit, each kit came with the same sprocket sizes. I was just wondering what others though about the different gearing performance?
Hi Dave, I'm not sure if this will help on your question, here , but it's probably something you've looked at already
