Can i get some feed-back. just started taking a closer look at my new rs 00 and found cracking around the nearside front indicator, and cos i cant find a new one for less than one million pounds or an old one at all, thought i would finally find out once an for all, Can you repair this plastic? any imfo. gratefully received. Also any tips on removing decals please.
Yes Tyraps & a Solder Iron, Tyraps are the right type of plastic, drill a hole at the end of the cracks first to stop it running, try & sand a groove in the crack to accept the plastic, melt it in, put in loads as you will sand it down, a Dremmil is good for that, paint. Some people reinforce the back with plastic strips no need to sand etc.
plastex may be another option, expensive tho . available on ebay.I have used on a mudguard and side panel on my old cb500
Its good to hear these things work. All the promises on the labels and web pages dont mean much. but first hand knowledge is points you in the right direction. cheers .
it does matter what type of plastic it is tho with plastex. I have not tried myself but believe that one way to remove decals is with a hot air gun, just keep moving. are they lacquered over tho? that may be a different matter i dont know
Cheers. Ive got a split on one front side panel and if i replace Im left with one decal, one not and as i would prefer clean look, thought i would ask.
just welded side panel for practice used soldering iron and tie-wrap then added wire cross ways for strength worked really well.
