G’day all, thanks for allowing me to join this forum.
    I have a 2010 triumph America Bonneville.
    VIN SMTTJ9118R8350770
The bike was left to me in a will and was a project when I picked it up.
It has no spark so I took it to an auto electrician who had it for six months then rang me and said he has tried everything and still can’t find the problem. He said maybe the ecu
White that in mind, the ecu in the bike has a different VIN printed on it. Do they have to match the bike?

@Bronte Lockwood If you had it to an auto electrician who can't fix it and took six months to tell you that. Well. Take it to a Triumph dealer get it tested properly.

@Bronte Lockwood Oh it is pretty hard to do that. We don't have any part numbers. And really the vin you should be mailing your dealer or Triumph direct for that info. As for the ECU They could throw some light on compatibility. But any change the bike really needs setting to accept the bits. Sorry but you really need to put some effort into the project. And any thing can be sorted.

I would consider getting the Dealertool, they are UK based but send worldwide, it costs £65 plus the shipping costs. It is easy to use, what it will do when set up is communicate with your ECU, it will throw up any fault codes and say what they are for. The ECU is matched to a machines VIN number, if you change the ECU then it will require re programming, One way around this is to obtain an ECU with a matching ignition barrel, immobiliser etc. Personally I would go for the Dealertool first. You don't say if the ignition activates the dash and symbols, or if the FP primes, lights work etc, more information may shed light on the issue.
