Newbie with issues!

    Hello. I ride a 2000 sprint st which is the mutts nuts ( well I think so). Live in Hertfordshire and I have gear box issues.

    Thank you. The problem started a couple of days ago on my 2000 sprint st. Sometimes when changing down from 3rd to 2nd the gear leaver stays down it does not flick back up but does engage 2nd. I then have to shift back to 3rd and then go back down. This does not happen all the time and there is no pattern to when this happens. Cheers Jon

    Sorry Jon, I didn't see your other thread. I haven't come across this particular problem myself but I'm sure someone on the forum will be able to give you some sound advice.

    Hi Jon,

    I had an issue like this with my Moto Guzzi V50 some years back, it was the detent spring - a small spring costing about a quid that makes the detent arm return to a neutral position so you can shift gear again. Not sure what the inside of a modern Triumph gearbox looks like but I know all the Meriden Triumphs used a similar sort of spring. Just a suggestion - a possible thing to explore.
