Hi Everyone, Been back in the uk, nearly 4 years, spent 9 years in Canada, first thing I did when I arrived there was straight to the Harley-davidson, and bought a 1200 sportster, had it 8 years, Then I came back, just bought a triumph thunderbird 900 year 1999, guy I bought it off did not tell me it was a insurance right off, clocks and mudguard, and scrapes, but that was all sorted out 4 years ago.
I just tried to trade it in for a royal enfield gt 500, the dealer said fine offered me £2100 for my triumph, told him about the insurance claim back in 2013, so I sent the difference by bank transfer, he would be bringing it up this week, and taking mine back, my triumph is a stunning bike, anyway he phones me back later on Friday and says he just found out about the insurance claim, I had already told him about that, and said he could only give me £1000, for my bike, then he said you can still buy the enfield, you just have to put more money to it,
    No thanks I said,
    dave

    Welcome to the forum David.
Other guys on the forum, Rich Bryce and Dozers Dad may be able to help in confirming the insurance write off status.

Hi and welcome David. My first question would be why chop in your Triumph for a Royal Enfield?

That aside, sounds like you got a Cat D (cosmetic) write off. It's easy to check out with an HPI check for under a tenner. Nothing to worry about if it was Cat D, except it knocks around a third off the normal value. Even if it was Cat C, so long as it has been repaired to pass an MOT, again there is nothing to worry about in riding it, but the resale value takes more of a hit.
