Hi everyone, Just signed up to your forum to share a receive advice/knowledge and have a chat. I have owned a triumph tiger sport for 1 year and have covered about 5500 miles, just carrying out my first service without any problems. I however would like to know if anyone has managed to flush out the ABS system on their Tiger sport, I have the ECUTUNE lead and software but it won't allow you to drive the ABS modulator so just wondered if anyone has got around this issue. I have heard that there is such a small amount of oil in the modulator that a straight forward brake fluid change and bleed should be sufficient, I would just be interested in others opinion. cheers regards Ken
I haven't checked on TuneECU, but are you saying there is no way to fire up the ABS pump? I used to do this on various Landys I've owned and it makes a useful difference when bleeding the braking system. Have you considered making a temporary electrical supply to the pump? If you can't then just replace the fluid elsewhere in the system, run the bike for a week or so then do it again. That'll ensure you have any and all old brake fluid out.
I could make up a cable but I am steering on the side of caution because it says in my Triumph manual only to run the abs for a short period of time I think it was 30 seconds and then allow to rest for 5 mins which suggests to me that it might burn out if driven too long. I have considered reflushing in a few hundred miles but I would have thought that you need to get the abs to kick in to purge the system. I have never had the abs kick in during normal riding because I have never been in a situation where the front wheel has locked . I wonder if the rollers they use on the MOT brake test could be used to fool the abs into functioning(just thinking aload)
If you do a std. fluid replacement, then run the pump for 30 secs that's all you'll need to do - it'll be a very small amount of liquid within the pump itself.
Hi kid, and welcome. Some thing like that I would personally take it in to the dealer, I wouldn't want to wear by boot heals out if my brakes didn't work.
