Hi to all; I am 53, I live on the boarders of Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire UK. I was introduced last year to Triumph by a workmate, he was big on Aprilia as was I but liked the build quality of Triumph, he now has a new 'Bonnie' and I went from my Virago 535 to a 1999 Legend. I have had bikes most of my life but took 8 years off after a stroke 10 years ago, I thought my riding was done though my stroke didn't 'kill' one side of me like it does to so many poor bastards (we have a young lad at work who has withered one side so it is a big reminder) I am not tall so I thought the Virago would be 'enough'. I had to consider the earache and to be fair concerns of home and my Mum. Unfortunately I found within 10 miles of riding the Yamaha was no good for me, my arse went numb and my back throbbed, should have test rode but that would mean dealer bought, so big money and now days few of them allow test rides. I sold it for what I paid and found the Legend at a used dealer in Rotherham, its a De Luxe, OOOO, big deal for a git of silver paint, 7000 miles and one owner, it had been stored for 8 years so it got serviced and new tyres. I have only done a few hundred miles for various reasons, it is now off road again, insurance was due and we started with lockdown. I am having trouble with cold starting but I will add that to another thread. I loved the riding last year so I hope this is the start of many years on it. I counted up how many bikes I have had, this is 13, screw superstition, its not going anywhere. some past rides; FZR600 Foxeye, GSX750, GPZ 500, GPZ750, GPZ900R, Bandit 1200, Pegaso660, Strada. My workmate (Les) has done some interesting stuff already to his Bonnie, some is on you tube, the dealer was shocked I think as it was literally brand new, but he is retiring age and shit house rat bonkers, it now has Thruxton Ohlins front and Brembo calipers, Showa rear shocks, de-cat, straight through cans, Thruxton spoke wheels, it looks real nice, a bit loud for me but a real one off. My bike is totally original and will stay that way. Myself and Les like rides out but not hundreds of miles like our other workmate 'Ian' he has Honda touring and does other countries. For a small company we have a good amount of riders on an array of bikes. Luckily I have a car so the bike is for when I want. I counted the cars I had had too (I do some long trip for work) 45 now, my favourite was the Chrysler 300C Touring SRT, but it got wrote off, little Pug now for economy. Enough waffle for now. Sorted the picks, I also added one of Les's Bonnie, he was missing the front mudguard as it needed special brackets to be made to take the original mudguard onto the Thruxton forks. Yes my pants were pulled up as a joke!
Additional; The cold start issue was due to a bad carb to head rubber sorted on the forum in technical, sweet now.
