thanks, and happy new year to you too.

i haven't bought one yet as still looking..... what a pain it is!
iv always like the triumph brands but for me being tall I'm limited and have come across the explorer and the sprint gt.... both lovely looking bikes but I'm trying to find reading material on tall people with sprints... i have been looking at other brands but the triumph keeps pulling me back......

Welcome Gav. Go and sit on as many different ones as you can to compare - I assume test riding will be out of the question as a new rider. That said, Pure Triumph in Woburn let my new-biker mate ride a Tiger round their big forecourt. He's a big lad and found the XC with it's bigger wheels than the XR a good fit, so worth considering if you don't mind the faff of cleaning spokes. Plenty of second hand ones at dealers atm, at reasonable prices. Given the choice between a Sprint 1050, which I also have and am selling, I'd choose the Tiger - but then I'm a short @r$e and find the Sprints a tad top heavy, but plenty of Trumpeteers swear by them for their sportier style and touring ability.

Hi Gav, welcome on board. You're not the only recent passer (I've just picked up my first bike on Friday).

A mate who is well over 6' tall has just swapped his Sprint for a Tracer 900, because he thought the Sprint was too top-heavy. He is loving the Tracer.

    Hi Gav,
I changed from a Tiger 880 in September for a T120 and the Bonneville is more comfortable on a 140 mile ride although the Tiger was better for chasing my son's 1,000's. My local dealer has a 6' 4" customer who rides a Street Twin and finds it fine.. The old adage, try before you buy, happy hunting.

will give it some thought, thank you for the info chaps.

does any one have some idea what i should be paying for the sort of bikes I'm looking at ? I'm checking eBay etc but haven't a clue if thats right as I'm seen some at my dealers nearby and the prices seem quite bit off, is there any apps i can down load to help me similar to car ones ?

just don't want to be bumped on my 1st bike....

    Hi Gavin!

This thread is still on topic: I am flabbergasted!

Seriously: Try the Tiger 800 XC. I only sold it, since I felt it being too tall for me (being 1,80).
So it could be your deal. As littleaide said, it is very nimble and agile and not too heavy!

    Have fun hunting :)
