Hi all I’m Look at possibly purchasing a Speed Triple R is there any or much difference between a 2013 Speed R bike to the facelift 2016 Speed R What about in the ride it’s self is there much difference or do they ride pretty much the same. The only reason I’m asking is there’s about £2000 difference in cost between both bikes and wondering if it’s worth the extra costs. Any help would be grateful
Personal choice in the end but I have a 2014 R and having test ridden later models I can’t bring myself to give it up. The handling is more or less the same for all. NOTE The 2013 model has 5 spoke forged light weight PVM wheels which are worth serious money and not fitted to post 2013 models so they’re worth £1500 extra not less. The pre 2014 models have unlocked ecu’s so can be accessed by tune ECU and other programmes if that matters to you? Later models have locked ecu’s and more electronics with throttle and ride modes and Gucci screen etc but I prefer the basic version myself. I have what I want but if I were buying a replacement I’d be looking for a 2013 bike with the pvm wheels.
I got a 2012 R with the PVM wheels, non ABS bike too so it’s got less to go wrong. Though I think you can get them with ABS if you want that. I only ride in good weather so dont need ABS or different modes that later models have. I do prefer the 2016 onwards fly screen though.
