My sons Boxer dog has managed to chew a large hole in my right boot. Which replacement boots should I go for? I've had my current boots for over ten years and they were much loved. However I take a wide fitting boot and there don't seem to be many around. Any suggestions please.
What about a pair of Triumph boots: TRIUMPH T3 GTX BOOT | Triumph Motorcycles I will be needing new boots soon and looking at the Triumph range, plus a Triumph jacket. I do wonder how much extra is paid for the brand though
For winter I have a pair of Sidi Courier enduro boots. Quite heavy duty all leather waterproof with three snap buckles. I used them off road and on, so far have proved indestructible. Summer I have a pair of Arlen Ness boots, both sets are very wide fitting and I must have tried on dozens of boots to find these.
As with all motorcycle clothing/helmets people can recommend a particular brand but there are too many variables in fit so best to go to one of the larger stores who specialize in clothing etc to get the chance to try different brands/sizes. What suits one person doesn't always fit others.
Don't forget to see if you can claim on house insurance, then you might be able to affords a better pair! I'm not tight, well maybe, but you pay so much for it you might aswell use it when you can.
Already done that Chrispey:upyeah:. However my boots are over thirty years old. They have given excellent service over the years. They have been repaired many times over the years, but the dog finally did it for one of them.
Thanks for the input, :wink:, but it's kind of stating the obvious. The reason for asking the question was that other members may have had different experiences of possibly the same product. Personal experience is far better than some of the so called reviews in the motorcycle press. I never buy on line, so a visit to a store is a given.:upyeah:
My Triumph boots are Alpinestars. I have wide feet too and these are definitely the most comfortable ones I have ever owned. I won't hesitate to replace them with another set when needed. Mine are only 5 years old! Wear them summer and winter.
I bought these for £50. Cheapest I could find, bar a £45 pair called "Flint"?? Oxford are good make so after my Hein Gericke leaked past my attempt at silicon shower mastic...
Check out www.altberg.co.UK. I have heard nothing but good about their boots, not the cheapest or most stylish but if the Police use them they can't be bad......oh, and they come in different width fittings
Have had a pair of Altberg boots since May 1999 (or was it 1998??) and they are still virtually as new and soooooooo comfortable, despite their age and mileage. Best I've ever had, and can be made to measure. Highly recommended!
You will find Daytona boots are very good as well and can be re soled, I am now in my 15 th year with them and they are starting to look a bit tatty now but still do not leak, but they are expensive at £450 but you get what you pay for unless you are very lucky, I have also heard good reports about TCX boots I might try a pair of those next time to save a bit of money, they are about £150 ish, but I will be surprised if they last as long as the Daytona boots, one good thing about Altberg boots is they will make them to fit your feet, but you might have to wait for them Keith
I have only great things to say about the Altberg boots. Mine are hardly worn in at just nine months old, but they are brilliantly comfortable, not only on the bike, but off it as well. I live in Yorkshire and was able to go to the Altberg factory in Richmond to have my feet measured. It was great to see the place where the boots are made, and know that the ones you get have actually been put together there. As Peteh says, not the cheapest, but not ridiculously expensive either, you do get what you pay for.
