https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/simple-mistake-can-see-you-12291770 Is this media over reaction or true? Don't see why I shouldn't still be allowed to drive my bike / car to an MOT and back home to repair, no matter what the mot outcome is???? According to this article, if deemed dangerous you have to leave it there to be repaired! Feck off, I never give repair to the mot station, your asking to get shafted by unscrupulous garages!!!
It’s only if it’s dangerous If you drive/ride something that you know is dangerous after being told so by the garage then you deserve what’s coming to you Using alcohol/drugs/phones are all dangerous An unsafe vehicle is just as bad in my book especially if you use it knowingly after being told
A careful drive home with a overly rusty structural suspension point isn't as bad as the people who drive about uninsured with no mot at all!
Dangerous is DANGEROUS If something was to happen on the way back and you killed someone with your DANGEROUS car/bike Do you think you would be on the road legally??? The insurance would be invalid if you ignore the dangerous warning So you would be driving with no insurance making you as bad as the people you’re on about with no insurance or MOT A dangerous warning would probably invalidate any MOT you had left as well Your car/bike would have to be recovered for repairs to make safe again It doesn’t have to be done at the garage where the dangerous notification was issued
So when does a car become just a ‘trailer’ ? Tow it back on a solid bar with its plates taped up then it’s covered by the legal car in front?!
This is nothing new so don't panic, MOT testers have always been able to condemn a vehicle, but you are allowed to take the vehicle away for repair but it must be on recovery truck or trailer to your choice of repairer.
It would need 2 wheels off the floor - aka towing dolly. Otherwise it would need road fund tax. The world has gone mad. I have a bike trailer to take and collect bikes from MOT station - just Incase they play silly beggers thinking my wallet is also theirs...
If totally unroadworthy - they can stop you removing ( by riding) however if it does not deem life threatening - you can remove and retest. At the moment - they only retest the failed items but they are trying to make a whole check again compulsory. Hope this helps
you can drive to mot station if its been booked in beforehand legally well I've done so many times and had no issues,to Be safe i would inform garage of registration make model etc so they have it recorded as plod may ask for proof if twisted enough.
Dunno if it’s true or not but lads at work were talking about this and one of them said that you can still take your car/bike for test after it’s ran out but as you said it must be booked in However....if it’s found to be in a Dangerous condition it is automatically recorded on the system and you could/probably will end up with a hefty fine for using a Dangerous vehicle on the road
