This week I made a real bargain! I found a new biker jacket for me. I was searching for a jacket with a three-laminate layer which is really waterproof. The last three years I used a jacket from the German company MODEKA. It was nearly waterproof. Only after more than 3 hours of hard rain at the sleeves some water ingresses occured. I compared many types of jackets through tests which are available in the internet and dressed 6 different types in some shops. The prices always were from €360 up to €1.500.-!!! only for a jacket. Additionally I watched many tests on YouTube. There I found an interesting jacket from the UK company OXFORD. A model named "Oxford Hinterland Advanced". The prices were advertised with €250-370.- After searching some hours I found a Czech motorbike article store and got it there for only €170,10. Yesterday it arrived. The look and feel was great! The announced size fits perfectly. On monday I will do my first test ride in the actual autumn weather conditions. In the following a picture and a test report. Test report: https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesoci...ckets-trousers-suits/oxford-hinterland-review
First ride impressions: Today I started at 8 degree celsius with some warm clothes like I used before under my former jacket my 60 km tour to my office. After 5 minutes I felt really warm and I will have to reduce my warm clothes under the jacket. The 3-layer system is great at those conditions.
I’m going to be in the market for new bike clothing next year and this Oxford Hinterland looks to be just what I’m looking for. I don’t like or want the separate waterproof lining as the outer jacket west out and becomes very heavy as well as making the wearer very cold. It also takes forever to dry properly and makes the jacket very bulky. Did you just buy the jacket or both jacket and trousers?
@Glenn2926: I bought the Oxford Hinterland jacket and a few minutes ago a pair of Oxford Stormland trousers It is the same quality but it has got additional pockets in comparison to the Hinterland one! I need pockets on my bike trousers. I payed €298.- instead of >€350 or more for it.
@Glenn2926: I think so. On the Oxford hompage I read that the different systems are combinable. I can test it after I have received my pair of trousers
Thanks @Markus please let us know if they are compatible. Oxford does look to be good quality without Rukka type pricing.
@Glenn2926: My pair of Stormland trousers just arrived. Look and feel is great. Size is great too! The Stormland and Hinterland zippers, as I read in an article, are 100% compatible!.
Thanks for update @Markus. These look to be my current favourites to replace my ten year old Held gear.
Markus you are going to town mate. You know you will need a new bike now to match the new gear. But smart clothing
@joe mc donald: You are right! My Rocket R 3 Storm is waiting at my dealer for me. At March I will pick it up.
