As a soon to become new Speed triple owner, should I buy now (wont be used over winter but still lovely to look at ), or are there likely to be deals on offer in the New Year? Sods law says there will be a deal as soon as I hand over some cash, but interested to hear your opinions. Thanks in advance.
Dealers with stock will want to reduce it now - stock costs money, month after month. If they have 50 bikes in stock right now at an average price of say £5000 - they have £250,000 of stock, usually on overdraft. If you wait until the new year, the riding season is getting closer so deals will become progressively more difficult to find, irrespective of what they say.
Thebiglads right, slow time of year. They won't be many deals when the new reg comes round. 2017 models will be in at the start of next yea,if you don't mind an older model that will give you a bit more leverage.
David liley has always bent over backwards on deals for me, but as a cash buyer if you are prepared to look around you have the upper hand. Fantastic bike by the way, here is a pix to motivate you
Agree with all the previous post, you are more likely to get a good deal now as winter sets in. Having said that I have bought bikes at different times of the year and the pricing has not been significantly different. Wessa
I know its not a bike but I bought a new car at the weekend. Pre reg in sept 2016 138 miles on the clock £27995 brand new and we got it for £17495 and am v happy as got top money on the trade in too. they say there isn't a great margin in vehicles.....
Find out when they are open between Xmas and New Year, end of the month, very quiet period so they will be desperate to meet their sales targets. Then go to a 2nd dealer and get a better price !!!! Play them off. Another way to get a good price, tell them your going to take finance out over 5 years and get a price based on that (get it written down), walk in next day and pay cash! The finance company give them money for getting finance arranged, so they will sometimes take that off the sale price. Does work, they don't like it, but if you've got it written down and agreed hard for them to back out. Speak from experience off pissing off a car dealership once. These strategies sometimes work, sometimes don't, but its worth a try.
I took a street triple out last week for a test ride and was offered a new speed triple brand new but £2500 off the new price. Was tempted but only in white.
Thanks for the advice "oh knowledgeable ones". First time ever buying a new bike (or from a dealer for that matter) and after a test ride there was no doubt the Speed is or me. Looks like I'll be sorting my own Christmas present this year.. Cheers all
It was the Lings dealership in watton (Norfolk) but it was about 3 weeks ago now so whether they still have any I wouldn't be sure. I may be nipping in there at the weekend to take out a street triple so I can find out if you like?
I got a very similar deal last weekend from Gedges in Hastings. Not only a good deal, but a very friendly dealership too.
Just as everyone says....best time to buy. As well as stock cost money, they are incurring insurance cost of holding the bike on sites. As long as they breakeven , the dealers are most likely to cut their loses n make a deal. So push for it n you are bound to find what you are looking for . All the best buddy ;-)
