With some decent weather appearing at last I took the speed 12 for spin to Helmsley and then over the moors. Everything going great until I had the feeling something wasn’t right handling wise. Having had this feeling before I kind of knew it was a puncture but didn’t want to stop in the middle of nowhere so kept slowing going until I reached civilisation (Kirbymoorside). Sure enough it was now flat and on investigation I spotted the screw. After a 3 1/2 hour wait the RAC eventually turned up. The fella was a really top man and had it plugged and fixed within 10 mins and I was on my way. Very pleasant late afternoon ride home so not all was lost. So note to self, take some sealant or repair kit next time and avoid wasting hours waiting for the 4th emergency service!
Yes, always a concern but it looks like your fortunate on it's location. Are you treating the RAC plug repair as temporary or permanent, as there seems a divided set of camps on that?
If it stays up, it stays on. I’m not planning any long trips abroad and not doing silly speeds everywhere so it will be fine. No doubt the naysayers will be along soon to warn us all that the end of the world is nigh.
If it's the mushroom plug type fix I'd be leaving it in despite recommendations to the contrary. I had a similar wait on a Saturday evening a couple of years ago when I got a rear flat on the Street Scrambler which meant a recovery due to tubed rims. I've ended up riding the dirt bike home a couple of times with a flat after being given ridiculously long recovery response times but that's with the benefit of rim clamps of course. With tubeless rims and a decent repair kit a roadside fix is quick and easy, most of the time. Personally, I wouldn't bother with any of that liquid sealant crap. It's never worked for me and makes a right mess when you take the tyre off.
