White coloured plugs means a very lean mixture and the bike will be running very hot. This can ultimately lead to loss of compression and power due to the formation of a hole in the piston crown.
    I know this because ..........!

Well it was many years ago and it was on a Norton (88 500cc) - someone else's rebuild ... a 1960 engine in a 1958 wideline frame. The back of that petrol tank was wiiiide:eek: - if in doubt get a slimline frame. Just sayin'.

I know exactly what you are saying regarding the Norton frames and tanks.
Never liked the wideline as much although certain engine maintenance jobs were easier.

Oh yes! And with much interest!
That Norton of mine was a nasty piece of work, but between it and my Speed Twin I learned much about motorcycle maintenance. The Speed Twin was actually quite good, but at 18 years of age I really had to have a good look inside it. It even worked when put back together again!!:)
