Is This Repairable

Managed to get home ok fortunately, but it will need to be fixed now. Would you say this is repairable?

 

I would say it is repairable. Has it gone all the way through? As far as I can remember repairs can be made if the damage is in the tread area. Sidewall damage cannot be repaired.

 

It has gone all the way through it is losing air. That’s good news the tyre is only 6 months old, a repair will be less expensive compared with another new tyre.

 

That should be repairable. My tyre fitter first removes the tyre to inspect from the inside before confirming that a permanent vulcanised repair can be done.

 

If the tyre is 'Z' rated a tyre specialist may not be prepared to repair it.

 

Get it plugged from the inside and all should be ok

Agree some tyre fitters will refuse to do it. Mine thankfully doesn't.

 

Yes. I used to get a plug done for a tenner at my mate's. Bastard's gone and retired now....

 

Thanks all for your comments, I’m going away on holiday ( not on the bike) so I’ll get the wheel off and book it into a shop when I get back. The tyre is almost new, that would have hurt having to scrap it.

 

Got a 1/2 day from work so I could get it repaired before we went away but unfortunately they said they can’t fix it, the screw is too far out of the centre section. It’ll need to be a new tyre.

 

I would try another tyre fitter before scraping your tyre.

 

Agreed, l've certainly had a repair that far out on my 1200 Kawasaki, and lived to tell the tale.....

 

Definitely repairable.
