    Hello all,

After 35 years and 66 days I've finally retired from work. Dearly beloved has been spending my lump sum on things like a patio with posh furniture (in the vain hope that global warming will turn the North East of England into something akin to Mallorca??) so I've been allowed a few quid to indulge myself.

Haven't ridden a bikes since the 80's (Japanese stuff) but had a hankering for the old days and fancied something to tootle around on. Came across a lovely 1998 sprint 900 Executive and I was seduced. Now bought and with Triumph to fettle, as it was laid up for 4/5 years by the previous owner.

Looking forward to some (fair weather) riding in the near future and having a bit of crack on these boards.

Yeah, I did my due diligence and the chap I bought it from had put a new battery on before selling and has kindly given me his Optimate.

Funnily enough the bike came from 'darn sarf'.

Lovely bike. Would be a shame to ruin those lovely fence boards though.

Hey Huxie, welcome mate and congratulations on the new bike. I hope you have many happy and safe miles. Leave it on the triggle and if dearly beloved becomes to much during the day hop on and go for a ride :) !

    Nice one Huxie .... welcome.:)
As has been said, keep you battery well charged. Stick a goodly slug of Redex or similar in the petrol from time to time, especially if it is going to be laid up for any length of time. This will keep the carbs etc nice and clean and working as they should. Change the oil and filter regularly. Sadly my mileage is somewhat limited these days but the oil etc gets changed at least every 2 years (about 1500 miles in real terms) - it was every year for many years, regardless. Also be aware that these bikes are a bit top heavy:eek:. Mine has tried to get away from me on several occasions but so far has been unsuccessful - even with full panniers, top box, tank bag and SWMBO on the back:p! It would seem that there may be a K&N air filter in the air box judging by the screws showing up in the photo. This is a GOOD THING as air box removal is a pain in the botty! If so leave well alone.
My Trident 900, which I've had from new, is a '95 reg with around 50,400 miles on the clock. It still goes beautifully and uses little or no oil. If you let it - and sadly I did - that bike will get under your skin and you will find it difficult to justify getting rid of it. I tried, but even though I was in awe of my Daytona 955i CE, when one had to go it was never going to be the Trident. Still miss that Daytona though!:(
Enjoy your new bike:cool:. They are addictive - you have been warned!!:D

I think this translates to " get this mate, no talking footie on here as my team (Sunderland) is going down while you buggers are going up (reference the Newcastle Utd / the toon winning the championship today with promotion to the premier league). Yippee
