Hi there all, I’ve drawn blanks so far on this so thought I’d post as final check - I have 09 Sprint 1050 and all is functioning as it should (touch wood). Had it just over a year But in recent riding with the bike moving the alarm light flashes occasionally. As I’m riding at the time it’s not easy to spot but yesterday it was definitely flashing. No obvious rhythm or pattern and not consistent. I saw it flash 4 or 5 times on one occasion and it had stopped by the time I got to the next town/cross roads. There’s nothing I can find in Bike or Alarm info and have looked across the web and forums and not seen much like this issue. Alarm arms and disarms fine and no issues with the bike when running etc I am expecting some to recommend to disconnect the alarm as I understand the Datatool Evo has its issues but I still like the idea of an alarm as a deterrent. I’ve not fitted any additional electrical accessories to the bike myself and only thing on it is the optimate connector Anyone any thoughts/ideas? Wise to get a wiring plug ordered just incase the alarm does need to be disabled? Thanks in advance
I doubt you’ll get many answers mate Hopefully I’m wrong and someone can help you but like you said most will just tell you to get rid of the alarm as they’re nothing but trouble and nobody takes any notice of them anyway
Thanks both for prompt responses. Will look up reg/rec failure symptoms too and keep an eye out just in case
If you don't want to disconnect it then my only suggestion would be to replace it If it has been on the bike from new then it's now 11 years old and likely to start giving you all sorts of issues
Doing an oil change and bits soon so I’ll visually inspect the stator and might resort to getting someone to check the reg rec for me (I don’t mind spannering but electronics are not my bag )
Can't help with the problem, but thought I'd just chip in as someone who is happy with their Datatool Evo alarm that was fitted by the dealer before I picked up my Triumph Trophy new in 2002. It's still used and I've never had any trouble with it yet. The dealer never wired it into the alarm light in the speedo or the indicators, so for all I know the light in the speedo could be playing a disco tune.... I know quite often forums are filled with troubles and no one ever seems to post if they don't have a problem. Thought I'd have a go and change all human habits...... Hope you find the cause.
